Grades 1st to 12th (1st - 6th with an Adult). Dia de los Muertos is a joyful holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1st or 2nd and involves people gathering to pay respects and remember family & friends who have died. These celebrations are often humorous with people sharing funny stories about the departed. Learn about the history of this celebration, as we explore activities related to this holiday. In the first class, you will have the opportunity to learn about and create an Ofrenda or Alter. You will have the opportunity to start making a "calavera," or sugar skull, which you will decorate during the second class. Materials fee: $10 (cash only) due to the instructor at the beginning of class. The workshop is for ages 6+ and their families & perfect for you & your crafty tween or teen to celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us. Instructor, Kristin Mahler.
