About This Activity
Description
Grades: 1st-5th. Have you ever been so fascinated by animals that you imagined being one? Explore how different Indigenous cultures, like the Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest, use animals in their art to represent important ideas. See how animals are not just animals in these artworks - they symbolize traits and stories, and are even featured on impressive totem poles! Then, take an artistic journey by picking an animal that you feel represents you or your family - any creature that you think mirrors your personality or embodies characteristics you hold dear. Once you’ve chosen your animal, sketch out a design and paint your animal using a variety of colors. Learn about color theory, which explains how colors can affect how a painting feels, and experiment with creating textures, both realistic and implied. You will not just create a painting, but a personal masterpiece that showcases your unique identity through the eyes of the animal world. Instructor: Doodles Academy staff.
