About This Activity
Description
Safety Town is for incoming Young 5, Kindergarten or First Grade students.Students must be 5 years old by December 1, 2024.Safety Town is one of Rec & Ed's most popular summer educational programs. Your child will learn safety awareness in a fun and entertaining way using a child-sized mock Ann Arbor "town" explored on tricycles. Children learn how to distinguish the difference between safe and unsafe when confronted with potentially dangerous situations. Guest speakers include police officers, firefighters, "Louie the Lightning Bug", water safety specialists and more! Songs, games, stories and art projects reinforce the lessons about:
- Animal Safety
- Bike, Pedestrian and Vehicle Safety
- First Responder Safety
- Home & Electricity Safety
- School Bus Passenger Safety
- Water Safety
- NEW for 2024! Introduction to School Drills, Health & Wellness Body & Internet Safety
Friend Requests:Safety Town is even more fun with Fall 2024 classmates! We try our best to place children with others attending their school. This gives them a chance to meet students from their class before school begins this fall. We also make every effort to place students with friends as long as a special request is included when you complete your registration.
