Halloween is coming up and the City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation wants to make your night spook-ta-cular! We will be hosting our annual Halloween Festival from 5:00-8:00pm on Saturday, October 29th. The event will take place at the MGC parking lot at 1035 N. Idaho Rd.This event is free to the community and is offered as a safe alternative to the traditional neighborhood trick or treating.
There will be lots of activities throughout the night for the whole family including a costume contest, Howl-o-ween K9 Costume Contest, pumpkin carving contest, bounce houses, fun kid's games, a petting zoo and much more! This year we are partnering with the AJ Police Department to the celebrate the 14th Annual G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) event, also known as National Night Out in cooler parts of the country. The event is designed to bring neighbors together, strengthen police and community relations, and support and celebrate the good citizens of Apache Junction who make it a safer place to live. The Police Department will highlight various programs and units while providing information on safety. Our Annual Costume Contest will begin at 6pm sharp and will be divided by age groups. All ages are welcome to enter. Remember to use your imagination and be creative! Do you or your family like to carve pumpkins for Halloween? If so, bring your pre-carved pumpkin out to the park and enter our Pumpkin Carving Contest! We will judge pumpkins in four categories: Funniest, Scariest, Best Overall, and Most Original! All pumpkins must be submitted to the judging table by 6pm to be eligible to win. Back by popular demand is the Howl-o-ween Canine Costume Contest. All canines must be on a leash and have a completed entry form. This contest will begin at 7pm and it will be judged on the following categories: Cutest Canine, Funniest Canine, Most Original Canine, and Best Group (owner & canine). Local non-profit organizations will be onsite selling food and playing games with the kids. Food and games will be available for a small fee and all money raised goes directly to the non-profit organization. This is a great way to let your kids have fun and support our community at the same time.
Registration is not required.
If you are interested in having a non-profit booth please contact the Parks and Rec. Office before October 15th.
