About This Activity

Description

ENROLL NOW: Late Fee of $50 begins after November 20th.

PRACTICES: Will be after 6pm during the week at the Aspen Middle School gym. The practice days are determined by who is coaching what team(s) and when they are available to coach. Children are then selected and placed on a team for the most fairly balanced teams possible. Aspen Recreation reserves the right to adjust team rosters, game schedules, etc. GAMES: Will be held after 6pm during the week at the Aspen Middle School gym. City of Aspen Parks and Recreation Department ***Parental Code of Conduct*** ? No alcohol, tobacco or drugs are permitted at sports venues nor those under the influence. ? No team changes are permitted without approval from City of Aspen Recreation Supervisor. ? Do not force your children to participate in sports, but support their desire to play their chosen sport. Children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment. Make it fun. ? Encourage your child to play by the rules. Remember, children learn best by example, so applaud the good plays of both teams ? Do not embarrass your child by yelling at players, coaches or officials. By showing a positive attitude toward the game and all of its participants, your child will benefit. ? Emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit your young athlete. De-emphasize games and competition in the younger age levels. ? Know and study the rules, and support the officials. This approach will help in the development and support of the game. Any criticism of the officials can only hurt the game. ? Applaud a good effort in both victory and defeat and enforce the positive points of the game. Never yell or physically abuse your child after a game or practice. It is destructive. Work toward removing physical and verbal abuse in youth sports. ? Recognize the importance of volunteer coaches. They are important to the development of your child and the sport. Communicate with them and support them. ? If you enjoy the game, learn all you can and dedicate time as a volunteer! Print Name(s):___________________________________Date:______________ Sign Name(s):___________________________________ Date:______________ By signing above you have agreed with the code of conduct. Failure to comply with the code of conduct may result in removal and/or suspension from observing/participating with the City of Aspen Parks and Recreation Departments Youth Sports programs. Youth Sports Participation and Registration Policy The Aspen Parks and Recreation Department?s mission is to conduct recreation programs at a professional level of service that provides quality and flexibility while contributing to the physical, mental and social well being of the Aspen community. In order to stay true to our mission we have created a Youth Sports Participation and Registration Policy. The goal of this policy is to provide a clear understanding of how our Youth Sports programs are facilitated. As mentioned in our mission statement our programs contribute to the physical, mental and social well being of the children in the Aspen community. The physical goal is to provide programs that can advance the physical attributes of all children in our programs. The mental goal is to provide a fair and level playing ground to allow children to discover the mental challenges of sports. Providing evenly balanced teams will facilitate the social well being of the children. Teams will be evenly balanced to the best of our ability by: 1) Determining skill ability level, 2) Age of child, and 3) Not grouping friends together (Play Groups, etc). We believe that all of these factors will help us provide the best all around experience for every child involved. Registration Policy: 1. Provide us with day and time preferences which we will take into consideration and do our best to accommodate within the before mentioned parameters. 2. Team rosters will not be available to the public until after registration is closed and teams have been selected. 3. Coaches are not entitled to select children for their team. Only children of coaches will be on their team. 4. Additional requests must be turned into the Recreation office as soon as possible in written form. Any questions or concerns with this policy can be directed to the Youth Sports Coordinator and/or Program Supervisor at the Red Brick offices. 110 E.
