The YMCA Community Learning Center is a grant funded after school program for students at Washington Elementary School. Through this partnership between the Auburn School District and the Auburn Valley YMCA and funded by the city of Auburn and OSPI, we offer academic and enrichment opportunities to students at no cost to the families Monday through Friday after school. Students in second through fifth grade are identified by school staff to participate in this program.
The CLC program begins directly after school with check in and a snack in the lunchroom. Students are given an outdoor activity time, followed by homework help in small groups. During homework groups, students are provided with support by CLC staff members in completing their assigned homework. Homework groups are organized by grade level, so that students are working on similar skills and activities.
Students are also given daily opportunities to participate in enrichments. Enrichments are group activities led by CLC staff members and selected based on student interest. Enrichments may include art, music, games, drama, dance, cooking, sports or other activities. Enrichments are designed to engage and empower students by giving them new skills and experiences.
Registration for this program is managed at Washington Elementary.
