YOUTH EDUCATION & SPORTS OVERVIEW Youth Education and Sports Scholastic's (YES) is a community based project designed to certify Student-Athletes across the nation. The entry level for beginning the program can start as early as 5 years old with an expected rate of completion by the age of 17 years old or at the completion of their junior year of high school. National Certification is awarded upon completion of specific prescribed performance based indicators. Eligibility Requirements Students that are involved in co-curricular activities are required to maintain a passing grade point average. Mandatory tutoring is required if the student does not meet eligibility requirements. The student must enroll in an after-school program or be provided with a tutor to continue participating in co-curricular activities. The students may be served by teachers in after school programs offered in the community. Co-curricular Activity We require all participants to participate in co-curricular activities all year in order to teach life skills and physical fitness while students are enrolled in the educational system. Scholastic Student athlete participates in Transitional Scholastic Training program (TST). TST assists in developing portfolios, resumes, scholarship applications, and college application and placement. Character Building Program The focus of the Character and Leadership development core area is to empower the youth to support and influence their school and community, sustaining meaningful relationships with others and developing a positive self-image. Volunteer/Civic Service Program Students are required to document participation in the volunteer and civic core area.
