About This Activity

We’ll meet in Basalt by 7-11 where we can investigate the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan Rivers. We will make nature art in the style of Andrew Goldsworthy and skip a few rocks before working together to collect as much garbage as we see…in our effort to leave the place looking more beautiful than when we arrived! Next, we’ll walk 100 yards over the bridge (near the trailer park) and explore the trail leading upstream. Along the way, we’ll identify riparian plants (horsetails, cottonwoods, willows, and dogwoods) and will decorate the forest with our own willow branch dream catcher creations. On our way out, we’ll collect as much garbage as we see…again, leaving the place cleaner than when we arrived! What to Bring: hat, sunscreen, water, rain gear, work gloves Instructor-Garry Pfaffmann
