About This Activity

Spring has sprung! What's growing in your backyard? The ferns are unfurling, the flowers are blooming… what a wonderful time to celebrate nature's gifts! Join us at the Salmon Center to discover the role native plants play in ecosystems and peoples’ lives here in Washington. Through creative outdoor activities, we’ll learn native plant identification basics and discuss their historical and contemporary uses. We’ll also explore the importance of native plants and practice our gratitude! With your new knowledge, you'll be a bona fide backyard botanist! A special snack, featuring a local plant, will be provided! - Participation is limited to 20 kids, ages 7-11 - This session is available for FREE with an optional donation. - Please have your child dress according to the weather. Close toed shoes are required. - Come prepared so that we can have fun outside (rain gear, hat, etc)! - Please plan on dropping off your child a few minutes prior to the beginning of the workshop. -To ensure equal engagement for all participants, guardians are not permitted to sit in on workshops. However, you are welcome to explore the Salmon Center grounds and our neighbor Theler Wetlands while your children are in class.
