C402 is the second of the three C400 level Java Coding courses, picking up where C401 left off. C402 continues the hands-on instructional style of C401, gradually moving on to more advanced computer science concepts and more challenging coding projects. C402 introduces important new programming concepts, with a focus on data structures (arrays and strings) and organizing code into functions. The key topics from C401, such as control structures and variables, will continue to be practiced and reinforced throughout the course. C402 continues preparing students for the high school AP® Computer Science A class, as well as introductory college computer science classes (such as University of Washington’s CSE142 Computer Programming I).
