Join the River Center Aquatics Staff and become certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. All participants MUST pass a pre-course swim. Must be 16 years of age or older to work at the River Center Natatorium. For more information contact the Benton Parks and Recreation.

This course will consist of virtual content that should be completed before beginning in-person sessions. This content should be completed before the course begins. To be eligible for the American Red Cross lifeguard recertification course, the participant's previous certification must be no more than 30 days beyond expiration. You will be asked to verify this certification upon the start of the course.

We pride ourselves in our lifeguard training courses. The River Center is proud to have some of the best lifeguard instructors that Arkansas has to offer through the American Red Cross. Prospective guards will learn everything from simple assists to backboarding spinal victims, CPR/AED and first aid training.
Participants are required to pass a precourse swim test before they are admitted into the class. The course cannot be passed without passing off on this test. If participants are able, please schedule a time to take the pretest in advance of the course itself. A refund will not be given if the participant does not pass this test, but you can come back to another class at no additional cost once this test is successfully completed.
There is an online portion of the course that should be completed before the first in-person session begins.

We will have a lunch break in which participants may leave the premises if they choose.
In water skills will be practiced at the start of the course. The final day will consist of skill passoffs as well as two written tests. Participants will know before they leave that day if they pass the course.
