For over a decade, Classroom Matters has offered the Bay Area’s premiere essay writing workshop. Our program aims to prepare students ages 12-17 to write better, more cohesive essays in an intensive, week-long workshop. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION We focus on a variety of components essential to expository essay writing. From literary analysis to shaping and supporting a strong thesis, small classes meet daily to explore the writing process in a fun and engaging environment. Through mini-lessons and guided practice, students will strengthen their aptitude for writing clear and convincing essays and develop a keen understanding of what makes good writing. Experienced teachers will assess each student's level of ability; students will receive our trademark manuals as well as other valuable handouts to use throughout the school year. Why it works: Separate classes cater to budding middle-school writers and to more experienced high-school writers who want to hone their skills. We've designed our curriculum to meet their diverse needs, giving students more one-on-one attention and feedback on their writing. All students will be asked to submit a writing sample before the start date so that we may evaluate their progress and make recommendations for continued growth as writers. Monday through Friday, 10am-1pm Minimum enrollment is six students; maximum is twelve.
