At this level, with some practice under their belt, students know that the rules are in place to protect them. Respect has taught them caution. Participants understand eye-contact as a method of communication. At this level, students begin to earn stripes and different color belts and practice goal-setting and obtainment.
Parents need to encourage their child to take responsibility for their actions. The child will should have the confidence to face another when battling. Knowing how to tie their dogi (uniform) and obi (belt), how to fold, to keep track of their equipment, etc. will go a long way in giving this confidence. Don't pressure them into practicing; if they want it they will get it! However, they may need a word of encouragement from time to time and a reminder about responsibility.
**Class will NOT meet on November 8.**
Uniforms can be purchased from the instructor for $45 on the first day of class. Your child will need a uniform (dogi), a mouth guard ($3) and boys will need a protective cup ($12). Uniform patches can also be purchased from the instructor ($5).
