About This Activity

Description

Internet Registration has not begun yet. Check Registration Dates in details.

(DROP-OFF Program): Hill House is excited to welcome Code Wiz to the Firehouse for a game development and foundational coding program!
Each participant will pick one of the four kinds of coding offered in this class and work at their own pace throughout the course of the program. You can view more detailed descriptions of all four types of coding by viewing the attachment at the bottom of this registration page.
Please have your child choose which one of the following options they would like to learn in this class:
  • Minecraft coding: students will learn an introduction to debugging programs, code using drag and drop or Java, problem solving and transferrable programming skills. They will also learn how to make mods and their own Texture Packs
  • Roblox game development: students will learn to use Roblox Studio 3D game engine to design a 3D world, game design using Roblox Studio, mathematical concepts and now to write code scripts to program characters and objects in a game. They will also learn the life cycle of game development (from planning to design to their finished product) and finding and fixing errors in their code.
  • Drag n Drop Coding with Scratch: students will learn problem solving skills, basic coding concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, events and communication skills along with mathematical concepts such as x-y coordinates, negative numbers, angles, percentages, remainders, and more!
  • Visual/Game Based Python: students will learn Python in a visual format, problem solving skills, basic coding concepts as well as mathematical concepts

Please read the notes at the bottom of this page carefully, and email jkelly@hillhouseboston.org if you have any questions before the season starts, or if you register less than a week before the program begins.
