About This Activity
Animation with Mr. Sosa 🎬Lights, camera… keyframes! Ready to dive into the world of animation and bring your ideas to life? Whether you’re interested in drawing characters that move or building full 3D scenes, this class will introduce you to the tools and techniques used by professional animators today. Students will learn the fundamentals of both 2D and 3D animation, including movement, timing, storyboarding, and design. We’ll use hands-on projects to explore animation basics and help students develop their own short scenes using industry-standard software. Required equipment: A laptop is required for all students. For 2D animation, we’ll use Toon Boom Harmony Advanced (student discount available for $10.50/month) and a drawing tablet (such as a Wacom Intuos). For 3D animation, students will use Autodesk Maya, which is free for student use with a verified account. iPads with Procreate are welcome for sketching and concept design but are not required. This course is designed for beginners, so no prior animation experience is necessary—but a love for drawing, storytelling, or digital art is a big plus! About Mr. Sosa Christopher Sosa is a professional motion designer and founder of Sosa Motion Design, a Florida-based studio specializing in 2D and 3D animation, video editing, and visual effects. With over 15 years of experience, Chris has worked on national campaigns for brands like Disney, Publix, and Carrabba’s, producing content for TV, stadium LED boards, and social media. His recent work includes animation for Disney Cruise Line’s Pixar Day at Sea and the newly updated Voyage of The Little Mermaid stage show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where he helped breathe new life into a classic performance. Chris is passionate about sharing what he’s learned with the next generation of creatives. His teaching style focuses on creative problem-solving, hands-on learning, and making animation fun and accessible, even if you’ve never animated before.
