This activity is closed to further registration.
This registration is for both Beginner and Intermediate Nordic Skiing. You will be prompted to select the appropriate question during your registration. The descriptions below outline the differences in the programs.
Beginner Nordic skiing offers an introduction to cross country skiing for kids new to snow sports, gets kids with some downhill or snowboarding experience comfortable on Nordic skis, and develops technical skills for kids with some previous Nordic experience. Participants practice balancing, stopping, turning, falling and getting up safely.
Intermediate Nordic skiing develops cross country skiing skills for kids with previous Nordic experience. To enroll in the intermediate program, participants should have completed at least 2 seasons of Bill Koch, Beginning Nordic Skiing, or have equivalent Nordic experience. Kids should be able to put on all gear by themselves, ski with or without poles, and safely stop using a wedge.
Participants are introduced to climbing and descending small hills, the half wedge, classic skiing in the tracks, and skate skiing.
Please bring multiple layers each day. Jackets, hats, and gloves are required, ski pants are highly recommended (limited extra clothing is available). Equipment (skis/boots/poles) provided. Gear is available for participants to borrow outside of class times as well.
Transportation is available from Upper Blue and Breckenridge Elementary for a nominal fee. Students not attending Breckenridge schools are encouraged to participate but need to provide their own transportation.
There is no transportation associated with this activity.
If you need transportation from Upper Blue or Breckenridge Elementary, please register for "Afterschool Nordic Ski-WITH TRANSPORTATION-School specific"
