Minor Softball is a competitive, yet instructional level of play. Scores and standings are kept. While there may exist options for travel softball to girls in our community, this division offers competition, instruction, team work and valuable game experience. The division also offers all-star selection and Little League post season tournaments.
Minor League Softball is for participants 7-10 years old and can be operated with multiple divisions that are based on age and/or ability, depending on the number of registered players and age distribution, incoming players from Instructional division and outgoing players to Majors division. The number of total teams and divisions may vary from year to year.
Minor softball will play (tentatively scheduled) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for a maximum of 16 games (weather permitting) with an interleague tournament at the end of the season. The season starts at the end of April and finishes at the end of June/beginning of July.
The league may implement local division rules. Fields are Little League regulation for softball.
Criteria to play:
1) 7 year olds may try out, and if drafted, advance to Minors. The players may also elect to stay in instructional or consider a season in AA baseball. All 8 year olds (and above) new to the league or advancing from instructional may try out and enter the draft. Non-tryout players age 8 and above may be randomly selected or placed on teams. Once a player is placed on a team, they stay with that team for their Minor softball career.
2) To be considered for the regular season and All-Star team, each player must meet age and residency requirements. All Stars must participate in 50% of the league games. All Stars are selected in June.
