Morningside Drive is a traditional Bluegrass six piece with an old-time feel. Brand new, but years in the making, the group features old buddies, used-to-bes and has-beens from the Brooklyn scene. The Abby Hollander Band formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2013 to perform Abby’s original songs in a traditional yet unique bluegrass setting. The trio focuses on arranging its material - originals and standards alike - to showcase the vocals and instrumentation simply and creatively. Abby Hollander is a singer, guitar player, and songwriter originally from Woodstock, NY. Coming from a family of musicians, she was raised on bluegrass. After moving to Brooklyn in 2011, she quickly found herself surrounded by incredibly talented players from all over the country. Ellery Marshall, a Los Angeles native, provides the banjo sound that is one of the group’s trademark features, and Jeff Picker, from Portland, Oregon, holds things down on the bass, sings harmony, and occasionally lends his remarkable guitar skills as well. Both musicians play an active role in helping Abby arrange her songs, making the band a dynamic, collaborative experience rooted equally in bluegrass and the 21st century city they call home.
