Lifeguard Certification Course
Lifeguard Certification Course: Learn how to prevent and respond to emergencies in and around the water. Topics include: risk management, water rescues, first aid, CPR/AED and preventing disease transmission. Upon successful completion of the course, participants are awarded certification in: Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards (each valid for 2 years). Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of the class, attend and participate in 100% of class sessions, receive a passing score of 80% on 2 written exams, and successfully complete 3 practical skill tests.
Prerequisites: Swim 300 yards continuously using Freestyle and Breaststroke (no time limit). Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick and return to the starting point (100 seconds). Tread water with no-hands for 2 minutes. Please bring a photo ID to verify age on the first day of class.Times of the class may be shortened due to enrollment numbers and the speed of the course progression; the instructor will communicate this directly to the students once the course begins.
