This training course is intended to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in and around water. Using an interactive digital textbook, participants will be required to complete 8 hours of online content that will prepare students to actively participant in 20 hours of experiential learning and assessment. This StarGuard Lifeguard training will focus on participant’s ability to recognize, respond, rescue and resuscitate as a first responder to save lives. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will obtain a certificate for Lifeguarding/Basic Life Support/Basic First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens through StarGuard ELITE that is valid for one (1) year.
Day 1 of class will serve as an orientation to the online content and assignment, participants will also be required to perform and pass their in-water pre-requisites: · Swim 50 yards, head up, without stopping · Swim 50 yards, head up, with a rescue tube across the chest, without stopping · Tread water for 1 minute without the use of hands · Retrieve a weighted object off of the bottom (minimum of 10 lbs) Digital content will be assigned to participants on the end of the first day. All online content is required to be completed prior to arriving to class for day 2. Registration fee covers digital textbook, pocket mask and whistle.
