About This Activity

Overview & Purpose: To Educate Student on the relationship between Science, DJ performing Arts, and Technology through exciting interactive activities. Desired Outcomes: To increase Analytical and gross motor skills through Science exploration and design in relationship to DJ performing arts and Music Technology. Objectives: (Specify skills/information that will be learned.) • Students will learn the meaning of “Sound” through visual aides • Students will learn how molecules vibrate to create sound waves • Students will learn beat Rhythmic Skills and sound frequency perception • Students will improve ear and hand coordination, while learning how to manually Cue beat measures, based on the gross motor activities of a Disc Jockey • Students will learn how to use Virtual Studio Technology software • Students will learn how to mix analog and Digital sound production • Remix Audio Wave Files • Students will learn how to produce music with the latest technology Information: (DJ Science Instructor) Instructor will demonstrate the following necessary information • Instructor will gave a descriptive definition of Sound through visual aides and Sound Experiments • Instructor will display how sound waves travel, through liquid sound experimentation • Instructor will give examples of Sound Frequency High, Mid, and Low Range • Instructor will conduct Rhythmic skills exercises • Instructor will give demonstration of DJ Cueing, with Rhythmic skills exercises (Hand and Ear Coordination/ Gross Motor skills) • Instructor will give demonstrations on how to design sound instruments • Instructor will demonstrate how to control sound vibrations and effects with DJ MIDI device • Instructor will demonstrate how to remix audio wave file with studio production software Information (DJ Science Students) Students will demonstrate the following projects and experiments • Students will participate in a interactive visual DJ experiment on Sound travel • Students will participat
