The Chico Creek Nature Center located in the heart of Bidwell Park, presents nature education classes for homeschoolers in K-6th grades. The program provides hands-on natural science labs, up close animal visits, outdoor games, arts and crafts and guided exploration of the park. We use curriculum from Project Wild and Growing Up Wild that meets state standards in science, literacy, math, art and STEM. Projects and activities are different all school year and students are encouraged to join us for as many classes as they can. Students who register for entire sessions may be grouped to work on more involved on going projects. Students who register for a single Tuesday or Thursdays will work on projects that can be completed within that day. Lunch is NOT provided. Please send students with a packed lunch and snacks. Limited to 40 students who will be broken into learning groups throughout the day. Younger siblings who wish to be grouped with older siblings may be accommodated with parent approval. All students will be together at various times so even those in different groups will get to see each other. The program runs 9:30am to 2pm. For maximum benefit we suggest students are there the entire time but late drop offs and early picks are allowed. We do not offer extended care so students may only be onsite between program hours (unless accompanied by an adult).
