About This Activity

Description

This program is designed to develop the power of expression in "junior youth," those aged 11-14, by reading and discussion of materials designed specifically for this age group regarding issues such as justice and service. Each 1.5 hour session will include reading and discussion; recreational physical activity; planning and carrying out community service projects; and artistic expression including drama, music and arts & crafts. Occasional field trips will also be planned.

The philosophy behind the Junior Youth Empowerment Program is that people of this age are at a crossroad in life, and that they are mines of gems of inestimable value, the value which becomes clear with education. The instructors (bios below) are called "animators of junior youth." These animators have been specially trained to deliver the program in an intensive process over several months.

The animators will collect a 1 time fee of 5 dollars at the first session.
