In Pony Pals I, your child will the learn how to groom and care for a horse and will receive a riding lesson while assisted on a lead line. At least one adult family member must attend class each week with the child in order to supervise, and to walk alongside the horse acting as a spotter, if necessary. The grooming instructor will teach your child how to be safe around a horse, feed a treat, and basic grooming tools and how to use them. The riding instructor will teach basic riding position and horsemanship from the center of the ring while a lesson assistant leads your child's horse or pony. Your child will learn how to halt and steer a horse, how to half-seat and post, and will get to trot the last week of class. Students may repeat Pony Pals I as many times as required. Students may wear a fitted bicycle helmet or borrow one of our extra riding helmets we have available.
