(Unrestricted weight: 165lbs; Red Stripe Players: unlimited.) The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks offers competitive youth football programs this fall. Players will be placed on teams based on age, weight, evaluation, and team requirements. Evaluations to determine student-athletes placement will occur during the summer practices, we strongly encourage you to plan vacations before August. Additional information to be mailed and emailed to registered participants. Players should be registered based on the lowest weight/age eligible. The department maintains the right to move players according to age/weight. Please use an email account you check frequently when registering. For program updates please visit www.hcterps.org . To ensure your child a position on a team, we strongly urge you to register before May 31st. Indicate child's weight and experience. A signed medical release form and a Maryland State ID Card are required. Practice begins August 3 for tackle football ages 7-14 and will be held five nights per week in Aug. before school starts; and begins August 10 for ages 5-6. Once school begins practice will be three nights for the duration of the season. Practice is at East Columbia Library/local school fields. Games are held on Saturdays at any time and some Friday evenings, and will require travel. Inclement weather make up games may be held on any day of the week. The regular season will run through the end of October. League playoffs will run through mid Nov for age 7-14. Review of this information is required by law before you are allowed to register for sports programs. REFUNDS: A $29 administrative fee will be deducted from refund requests made prior to July 1. A 50% administrative fee will be deducted from refund requests made July 1-August 12. No refunds after August 12. EQUIPMENT: Each athlete will be issued equipment to include helmet, shoulder pad, game jersey and game pants. A $250 deposit check will be required at equipment checkout. Each player must provide: athletic supporter and cup, practice jersey, practice pants, mouthpiece, socks, and cleats.
