About This Activity

Learn chess and improve your chess strategy with guidance from Bob Salvas, a lifetime member of the US Chess Federation, Level 2 Tournament Director and a chess instructor for more than 15 years. Students who have not yet participated in the OCYL program must attend the beginner class. This class is for students who have completed the OCYL Intermediate Program and those who have USCF chess tournament experience. It is designed to introduce students to competitive chess and some of the more advanced strategies of the game. Emphasis is on learning how to play in a sanctioned tournament and in leagues, clubs, and how to join the United States Chess Federation. NOTE: Must have instructors approval to register for this level.
