ABOUT THE CLASS: Recorders rock! This fun and engaging introductory level group class explores the basics and fundamentals of playing this classic woodwind instrument which has been a popular first instrument and mainstay of music education since medieval times! Students will become acquainted with the recorder and learn the proper way to hold it and produce sound, applying the correct finger and breathing techniques to perform various rockin’ tunes and melodies from throughout history! Each student will develop an understanding of basic musical notation and playing in a group environment. Learning how to play the recorder provides an excellent musical foundation for participating students and can really gear your child for musical success! INSTRUMENT: Recorder DAY/TIME: 30 minutes once per week on Wednesday's from 7:45am-8:15am starting Sept. 2nd SKILL LEVEL: Beginners only AGES: Students must be in grade 1-3 CLASS SIZE: Minimum 5, Maximum 12 MATERIALS: *Please DO NOT purchase materials/instrument until you are notified of enrollment. Parents will be instructed to buy materials once classes have begun. www.sheetmusic.com is a good resource. Material cost will range from $15-$25 per year. GETTING AN INSTRUMENT: *Please DO NOT purchase until you are notified of enrollment. Students are responsible for renting or buying their own instrument for the classes. Call Musika at 877-687-4524 if you need help. POLICIES: 1. This a semester long program. Lessons will auto-renew for the next semester. The student must inform Musika before the next semester begins if they wish to discontinue lessons. Once the new semester has begun their will be no refunds. 2. There are no refunds for students who miss a class. 3. Classes missed due to teacher absence or weather related school closing will be refunded at the end of the semester. ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT: If fewer than 5 students enroll, the class will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued.
