We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Wednesday, December 21, 2016.
Karate (empty-hand) is the study of the art of unarmed combat through the lessons contained in kata (forms). Shotokan karate is a proven martial art with its roots in Japan and Okinawa that is now practiced worldwide. We will be learning striking, punching, kicking and blocking techniques. As we progress to the advanced levels, strategy and tactics for dealing with multiple opponents will be applied and practiced. We will also be exploring bunkai-techniques imbedded in kata that are just as useful for self defense today as they were a long time ago.
Sensei (Instructor) Eric Good is joining Rocky Mountain Martial Arts to complement Sensei Eric Goslau's Jujutsu program at Evergreen Parks and Recreation. Sensei Good started his journey in the martial arts as a youth learning Shorin Ryu karate for several years. In college he began studying Taekwon Do. After a short break, he reengaged his studies of the martial arts in 2002 with a focus in Taekwon Do and got as far as 2nd dan ( 2nd degree black belt). Sensei Good then started studying Shotokan karate and KaJuKai jujitsu in 2006 where he?s earned the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in Shotokan and has also studied martial blade concepts, a kali based knife combat style.
We practice in a safe, friendly environment where personal growth and fitness are encouraged through the practice of karate.
