A general music class designed for vocal children ages 4-10 years with immature or delayed social and play skills, targeting the umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorders, including, but not limited to: Aspergers, High-Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and related play/social delays, including ADD/ADHD.
This class is all about exploring physical movement and its ability to tell stories. Beginning with warm up and stretches, children will learn their body in relation to space and using their body to create shapes. A large part of the class will involve students exploring far off places and telling stories through their physical actions. Such storytelling is a wonderful introduction to dance?s ability to express oneself and tell stories in other forms such as musical theatre. Creative movement is a wonderful opportunity for young children to begin exploring the world of dance.
