Summer Piano Explorationsages 8-12June 23 - 27, 20259:00 am - 4:00 pm
Piano Explorations is an exciting new summer program for late beginner to intermediate level piano students!
Prerequisites: This camp is designed for students with a minimum of 1 year of formal piano study (lessons, group classes, etc.) or equivalent. Students should be able to read and play treble and bass clef; understand quarter, eighth, and half note rhythms; play left hand and right hand together in basic melody; and be able to read and play at least one 5-finger major scale and one 5-finger minor scale.
During this week-long program, students will deepen their understanding of piano technique and musical expression in a positive, supportive environment. Participants will receive private lessons; enjoy fun musical activities designed to strengthen their sight reading and rhythmic fundamentals; learn about music history; study strategies for better practicing and self-evaluation; and participate in other music-related activities and games.
At the end of the week, students will participate in a brief, video-recorded showcase. The video will be shared with families at the conclusion of the camp.
Students will receive:
- Private lessons
- Classes in music history, sight reading, rhythmic fundamentals, and other piano topics
- Guided practice time
- Attend optional evening performances by faculty and guests
- Final video-recorded showcase performance
