Ever wonder how to safely preserve all those fresh garden vegetables? This hands-on food preservation workshop taught by UMaine Extension volunteers will teach you the basic steps for hot water bath canning, as well as covers basics of other methods of food preservation. Participants will receive a "Preserving the Harvest" food preservation packet, and will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, about equipment to ensure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. Please bring a potholder with you to the workshop. $20 Materials fee payable to instructor the night of the class.
