This class is for students looking to explore vocal technique and training. Learn to connect your vocal skills to the dramatic intention critical to developing confidence as a performer. Each week performers will learn new skills in music theory, harmony, audition technique and more to improve both individual and group performances. Classes will focus on group songs chosen from traditional and contemporary classics taking into account class ranges. Some class time will be alloted for individual work and vocal notes on a rotating basis. Additional individual vocal sessions will be available for students who desire private lessons. There will be a final performance of chosen individual/group material, but this is primarily a technique class. Skills learned: music theory, harmony, breath support, placement, musical theatre vocal technique Fall classes: 9/12- 12/12 (tech rehearsal) Performance 12/13 Spring classes: 1/9-5/8 (performance) Fall focus - Ensemble work with basic harmonies, intermediate blending and ear training moving to advanced harmonies, dynamics, and musicality. Spring focus - Solo work and auditioning with special emphasis on characterization. Every student will leave with an appropriate audition piece. * Additional individual vocal sessions will be available for students who desire private lessons.
