What's Included

This workshop for students on the Autism spectrum is specifically aimed at beginning theatre skills, communication, and socialization. In this 10 week class, we will use acting and peer modeling to address social skills for children with Autism such as Initial Social Skills, Skills for Expressing Feelings, and Social Relationship Skills. During the class we will introduce theater vocabulary and concepts and rehearse a scene from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" which will be staged in class for family and friends at the end of the course. We will do warm ups at the beginning of the class and learn theatre games throughout rehearsals. Skills learned: teamwork, characterization, emotions, projection, diction, stage setting, stage directions, memorization techniques, props, blocking, dress rehearsal

About This Organizer

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Program is dedicated to training young artists and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performing opportunities.

Our MISSION is to foster a lifelong appreciation of live theatre by providing a safe and healthy environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self-confidence and collaboration and leadership skills through the performing arts.

During the academic year we offer after school and evening classes in acting, dance, and vocals. Our popular Production Workshops offer performance opportunities to those students who are ready to put their skills to work. Production Workshops rehearse weekends and culimate in public performaces on one of our Palace stages.

When school is out, our curtain goes up! We offer "school day out" and "break" camps, giving students an abreviated, yet rich emersion into theatre arts.

During the summer, we offer 2-4 week Theatre Camps where every young artist is cast in an amazing show! Performers are split into groups by age: ages 7-9, 10-12, and teenagers. All campers attend daily class in acting, vocals, dance, stagecraft, and monologues. Each camp culminates in a public performance for family and friends.
