Your challenge is to gather a crew, build a boat made entirely of corrugated cardboard, and sail a designated course on Lake Ellyn with your boat intact and all crew members onboard at the finish line. All adult crew members must be 18 or older. All youth crew members must be 9-17 years old.
Maximum number of crew members allowed on each boat: 8.
Boats must be constructed entirely of corrugated cardboard and propelled by paddles or oars only.
When registering, GEPD will issue an official entry form with a space for a 4x6 photo of the completed boat and its crew. The captain must present the entry form with the boat and crew photo attached, when checking in on race day. Failure to have the official form and photo at check in will result in forfeiture for your boat and crew. No refunds.
All boats must be prepared to attach a wooden doll rod with an assigned pennant/number to the front left corner of your boat. Pennants will be given to the captain at check-in.Crews must pass an official inspection on race day. Any item adding to the structure of the boat or board, that is not made of corrugated paper will be removed by officials, before the start of the race.
Look for the minnow track located near the bandshell. Only $1.00 per minnow. Proceeds will go to our Park District Scholarship fund. The park District supports over $40,000 in scholarship programs.
