About This Activity
Description
“Every child should have mudpies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, animals to pet, hay fields, pinecones, rocks to roll, sand snacks, huckleberries, and hornets. Any child who has been deprived of these, has been deprived of the best part of their education.” -Luther Burbank. This three-week series will provide much of what Burbank lists above with supervised child-directed play in a natural area. Participants will develop motor skills, social skills, and imagination, in addition to learning first-hand about the natural world. Bring a water bottle and dress appropriately for the weather. No class on 5/26.
Please meet at the picnic shelter at Churchill Park, 271 St. Charles Road. Please bring a water bottle and dress for the weather.
