Basic Fundy Ecology Jun 29-Jul 6 takes place on Grand Manan Island in the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada. We greet our students in Bangor, Maine on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, spend the night at the University of Maine, and drive to Grand Manan, NB on Sunday morning. This session has two trips on a whale watching vessel and one trip out to see puffins on their nesting island. During days that we are not whale/puffin watching, we are exploring the ecology of Grand Manan with one explorative lesson in the morning and a different lesson in the afternoon. Some examples of lessons include tide pooling, geology, marine mammal biology, bog exploration, ornithology, stream ecology, and forest ecology. There is an additional option to sign up for a half day of kayaking in this session. This session ends on Saturday, July 6th when we return to Bangor, Maine for travel home. The pricing for this session includes all ferry fees, gas and transportation, overnight stay, and the cost of food.
