Fly fishing opportunities abound near Grand Marais. The tributaries that flow into Lake Superior and our inland lakes are some of Minnesota’s most wild and scenic settings. Join our guide fishing the mouths and upstream of local Lake Superior tributaries, where you fish fall spawning runs: Pink salmon (“humpbacks”) in late August and September, native coaster (Lake Superior-run) brook trout In October, chinook (king) salmon in September or October, along with occasional steelhead rainbow trout make their annual migrations. No previous experience is required. Each tour begins with outfitting and then basic instruction occurs at the lake/tributary. We cover kick boat operation, stream wading technique and basic fly casting.
