The Science of Winter Homeschool Program is a ten week session and takes place on Wednesdays: Jan 6, 13, 20, 27 Feb 3, 10, 17 Mar 2, 9, 16. Ideal for students 7 to 12 years old Summary of ten week program: The Science of Winter program has been designed to integrate all core subjects as we delve into the mysteries and wonder of the science behind the winter season. This ten week course will instill your children with a sense of curiosity about how our natural environment changes and survives. Let us help you get your students outside and learning during these cold months! Activities will include: Mapping migrating birds, tracking animals in the snow, investigating the physics of showshoes, calculating the best slope for a sledding hill, a fun experiment called "Animal Antifreeze", and much more! We will also spend a few weeks on Maple Sugaring, learning the history, chemistry and science of the process ...and of course we will take on the task of making our very own maple syrup! Emphasis will be placed on all concepts being taught with an interactive, hands-on, and student-led approach. A detailed description of daily activities will be provided weekly as some activities will vary based on weather and student dynamics.
