Wednesdays 10:00 - 1:30 Studying Native American life offers a wealth of learning opportunities for your student. The Native American Homeschooling program enables children to, not only receive an overall understanding of the lives of Native American people, but to also develop a sense of respect and curiosity about the environment around them. This Homeschooling program has been designed to integrate all core subjects into Native American concepts over the course of 10 weeks. The program will focus on: Native American tribes in the area, wild edible and medicinal plants, primitive tools and other implements, farming practices and hunting techniques, the importance of animals and the environment, Native American music and instruments of various ceremonies, legends and stories, the engineering of wigwams, basket and rope making, clothing, making native American food and playing Native American games. Emphasis will be placed on all concepts being taught with an interactive, hands-on and student-led approach. A detailed description of the each day’s activities will be provided at the end of the course as some activities will vary based on weather and student dynamics.
