This trip combines science learning with outdoor adventure and has everything you would want in a summertime excursion: backpacking, biking, kayaking, and traveling on snow and ice. We'll start at close to 8,000 feet on Mt. Hood and make our way downstream to the Columbia River through the Hood River Valley. Expect a challenging, fun, and provocative week as we travel by foot, bike, and kayak. Along the way we'll meet with local stakeholders and scientists to investigate glaciers, climate change, fisheries, and conservation. Through our conversations and experience we will begin to understand the natural functions of the Hood River and how human communities interact with it. Join our partner organization, Catlin Gabel School, on this fun trip close to home but a world away!
