About This Activity

ROBOTC NXT Virtual World vs Real World is a camp that aims to combines the constructing of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT with the coding power of ROBOTC but also using ROBOTC to code in a Virtual World similar to video game development. Virtual vs Real give teens an opportunity to take their learning to next level through hands-on, minds-on robotics laboratory experience. Campers will model real-life mechanisms and use creativity, logic, and problem-solving skills to meet challenges with today’s technologies all while learning necessary science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. Campers learn how to write robotics code to autonomously control NXT Robots using ROBOTC operating system that allow the robot to perform several tasks independently and the fundamentals of motor movements using C-based programming and engineering designed appendages Campers explore and make deep ‘connections’ with mathematical and scientific concepts that underlie the activities such as measurement concepts (distance, time, and temperature) and geometry concepts (angles, rotation, radius, and circumference).
