Application Period is CLOSED and the CIT Program is full.Do you love Eagle Creek Day Camps, but are too old to attend and too young to be a staff member? Become a Counselor in Training (CIT) for the Ornithology Center! Build your camp counselor skills by helping with crafts, activities, games, hikes, and more! Call the Ornithology Center at (317) 327-BIRD or email the camp coordinator at donna.riner@indy.gov to learn more about this opportunity. Potential CITs need to submit an application in order to be considered for this opportunity. Email Donna to receive your application. Spots for CITs are limited and are not guaranteed after submitting an application. Registration for this program occurs after applications are submitted, reviewed, and acceptance into the program granted.
CITs are still considered a "camper" so camp paperwork must be filled out by a parent or guardian and a fee is still required: $50 for half-day camps, $75 for full day camps. If you are interested, either the camper or adult can call or email the Ornithology Center to acquire an application. If the camper has never been to our camps before, an in-person visit/interview will be required before signing up. If accepted, the CIT can indicate their preference for camp week(s). CITs will also be required to attend one day of training prior to their first week of camp.
Schedules can be arranged to accommodate later pick-up or if the CIT wants to stay after camp to help clean up/prepare for the next day.
Half Day Camps ($50 each):July 15-19 Magical Creatures | Campers are ages 6-8* | M-F 8:45am-2:15pm at Eagle Creek Park Hideaway *CIT 13 or older
Full Day Camps ($75 each):
June 3-7 Avian Adventures | Campers are ages 12-15* | M-F 8:45am-4:15pm *CIT 15 or older
June 10-14 Tree Huggers | Campers are ages 8-9* | M-F 8:45am-4:15pm *CIT 13 or older
June 17-18, 20-21 Junior Naturalists | Campers are ages 10-12* | M,T,Th,Fr 8:45am-4:15pm *CIT 13 or older
June 24-28 Junior Ornithologist | Campers are ages 12-15* | M-F 8:45am-4:15pm *CIT 15 or older
July 1-3 Nature Explorers | Campers are ages 6-7* | M-W 8:45am-4:15pm *CIT 13 or older
July 8-12 Wilderness Girls | Campers are ages 10-12*| M-Th 8:45am-4:15pm, F 2-10pm *Girls Only, CIT 13 or older
July 22-26 Magical Creatures | Campers are ages 9-12 | M-F 8:45am-4:15pm at Eagle Creek Park Hideaway *CIT 13 or older
Schedules can be arranged to accommodate various work schedules, but price will remain the same.
