Instructor: Sarah Beauvais Required Materials: Sharp scissors, hot glue gun (or other foam adhesive), sharpie, and a creative mind. Fabric must be purchased independently by the student after the design is created. Useful materials may also be found around the house unused, students bringing materials from home helps to lower the cost of the class. The ten dollar material fee is for foam which I will purchase for you. Create a character that is truly unique, will yours be Huge? Tiny? Purple? Or Green? A pig? A frog? Or a giant monster? There is NO LIMIT TO WHAT YOU CAN CREATE. Let your creative genius flow into your spectacular creation! This class goes far beyond your basic sock puppet and teaches students to create amazing Muppet style puppets from foam and fabric and much much more. In this class You design the type, shape, and size of your puppet, and then the group uses critical thinking and makes a pattern to create the puppet’s unique shape. Everything can be customized. It is geared toward those old enough and responsible enough to wield a hot glue gun, or foam adhesive, foam shears, sculpting wire, pins, or a sewing machine. Sewing experience is useful, but is not required as I prefer to use many no-sew methods to make a puppet using a foam adhesive and other materials. Working both as a group and independently, we will make our way up from creating basic hand puppets to creating a full body covering monster puppet comparable to Sweetum’s size.
