*NEW* this Spring, for anyone who cannot attend our August session.
This firearm safety class consists of 15 hours of classroom plus field experience in the safe handling of firearms and hunter responsibility. The field experience allows students to learn and demonstrate commonly accepted principles of safety in hunting and the handling of firearms including live fire at a rifle range.
Attendance at ALL classes is required in order to become certified. Upon successful completion of the class, participants receive a Minnesota DNR firearm safety certificate.
Must be age 12 by December 1, 2017 to register for this class. Adults are also welcome to register for this course. $7.50 due at the time of registration, with an additional $7.50 payable to DNR after completion of the course.
This class meets Wednesdays from 6-8:30pm, February 22 - March 29, at the Old Fire Hall, 440 Little Canada Road East. Field experience will be held at the Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club at a date and time to be determined.
Participants should bring an unloaded firearm in a case to class if you have one (.22 rifle preferred). DO NOT BRING AMMUNITION OR PISTOLS. If you do not have a firearm, the instructors will have several extras available at the class.
