Space Work and Physical Character Expression (4 Weeks) Acting is more than just verbal — it’s physical and visual! Space work helps you create a physical environment for your audience out of thin air, and helps them see, and believe in, the setting in which your characters exist. No more faking your way through mediocre mime. Become skilled at creating the illusion of objects, environments, and other characters that help you communicate your story. Speaking of characters, do your characters do more than speak? If not, then they should! A character’s personality comes out through more than just what they say. It comes out through how they stand, how they move, and not just what they do, but how they do it. Learn how to use your body effectively to physically express your characters, and how to maximize the visual impact of your performance, with techniques for creating new characters on the spot as well as more fully developing the characters in your personal repertoire. Taught by mime and character movement coach Lorin Eric Salm — former student of Marcel Marceau, founder of Mime Theatre Studio, movement coach for film, TV, and animation, and character movement reference actor for animated television.
