Madison Heights Recreation is teaming up with Royal Oak Sandlot League to offer fast-pitch softball for certain age divisions of girls’ softball. Players of all skill levels and experience are welcome to join. Practices will take place at fields in Madison Heights. Games are played at fields in Madison Heights as well as Royal Oak. Our Recreation league is designed to develop softball skills, sportsmanship and teamwork. Practice will be twice per week. Practice days, times and locations will be announced at a later time. Teams will also have the option to practice once a week after league games begin. Every attempt will be made to make-up rain-outs the Friday of the week it occurs. The tentative league schedule is as follows: Practices – May 6 to May 31 Games – Early June to Mid July. Teams are limited to the 13 players per team. Each player receives a team uniform and visor as well as a participation reward. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Register early to ensure requests can be met, be sure to include any team requests when registering. Volunteer coaches needed. Coaches must be 18 years of age, know the basic fundamentals of the game and be able to stress good sportsmanship in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. All volunteers will be required to pass a criminal background check and complete an online certification through National Alliance For Youth Sports. Scores and standings are kept, culminating in Playoff and World Series games Practices are held two weekday evenings and some Saturday mornings/afternoons.
