About This Activity
This club will establish an after-school instrumental (band) ensemble for our elementary grade students, in order to act as a Lower School “feeder” program for the BASIS Independent Manhattan Upper School music elective. The ensemble would be dedicated to building a sense of community among students, developing deeper appreciation for all forms of instrumental music, improving overall musical skill, and fostering leadership qualities in students through musical practice, performance and accomplishment. Additionally, the hope would be for this ensemble to grow into a robust instrumental music program over time, eventually serving as the “pit” ensemble for the BASIS Independent Manhattan Lower School music theater program. Students would have the opportunity to select a primary instrument, rental or already own, to play in the band from either the woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument families.
