Get ready for an experience that just might change your life. SLAM is more than just a summer camp; it is an accelerator for high-achieving students. PROGRAM MISSION: In its 12th year, SLAM is the area’s premier leadership development program for young men entering fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades in the fall of 2016. The program attracts high-achieving students from the Memphis area. Designed to foster academic preparedness for a group of emerging academic and social leaders, SLAM develops and connects the future leaders of Memphis. Ultimately, SLAM introduces all participants to college-preparatory school experiences and expectations while promoting community relationships for a lifetime of leadership and service. PROGRAMS Two sessions (June and July) of SLAM are offered on the Memphis University School campus located in the heart of east Memphis at the corner of Park and Ridgeway. The program includes academic classes, public speaking, leadership programs, physical fitness, athletics, and games. The academic curriculum includes math and English enrichment, summer reading, and public speaking. Each week leaders speak to the participants on various aspects of leadership and service. Nutritious lunches are provided in the MUS Dining Hall. While similar, the curricula for Session 1 and Session 2 differ so that students may participate in both sessions.
