Rivers is a program for young people (ages 13-17) who wish to delve deep(er) into ancestral skills and wilderness awareness. It is an opportunity to be challenged, laugh deeply, co-create culture with peers, learn about the natural world, hone awareness, and connect fully with yourself. Whether or not you’re new to skills like friction fire, carving, singing, camouflage, foraging, etc., this program is designed for any young person with the willingness to step into this experience with us with a strong “Yes!” Rivers will have a strong focus on crafting and making some of the tools essential to culture, connection with landscape, sourcing food, and more. These could include: wooden utensils, bowls, fishing nets, bow drill kits, bone knives, bone needles, natural thread, leather pouches, and many other ancestral implements. Our time together will culminate in a 4-day wild camping trip together. This trip will bring us to the growing edges of what we know and have learned throughout the year, as we endeavor to create a small village and sur-thrive together in the natural world.
