Prerequisite: Completion of Level 2: Primary Skills
Purpose: Increase swimming skill competency; practice safety and non-swimming rescue skills. 1. Understand safe diving rules 2. Bob in water slightly over head to travel to safe area 3. Jump into deep water with life jacket on 4. Jump into deep water from side of pool 5. Demonstrate the Heat Escape Lessening Posture for 1 minute 6. Perform "huddle" position with other participants for 1 minute 7. Know how to open airway for rescue breathing 8. Retrieve an object from the bottom in chest-deep water 9. Perform 15 bobs in chest-deep water 10. Do back crawl, 10 yards Do elementary backstroke kick, 10 yards 11. Dive from the side of pool from kneeling and compact positions 12. Tread water Reverse direction while swimming on back 13. Coordinate arm stroke for front crawl while breathing to the front or side, 10 yards 14. Perform front glide with push-off, 2 body lengths 15. Perform back glide with push-off, 2 body lengths 16. Reverse direction while swimming on front
